NT Police are investigating more than $50,000 in property damage to a property on Gap Road in Alice Springs.
Police said property security responded to an alarm on Gap Road at 9:30 pm and found minor damage at the property before re-securing the premises.
Then at around 1 am, police patrols in the area responded to an intruder alarm coming from the same building on Gap Road. Upon investigation, police discovered that unknown offenders caused extensive damage across multiple offices and areas within the building.
“Unfortunately, the actions of these offenders have resulted in the community being unable to access key services provided by the organisation, today. It’s unfathomable as to why someone has chosen to actively cause this much destruction to a property,” Detective Acting Senior Sergeant Robert Kent of Strike Force Viper said.
The police are urging anyone with information which may assist the investigation to call 131 444 or report it anonymously via Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 and reference PROMIS number 10039678.
