A stolen ute was used to ram raid two Alice Springs businesses, and was later driven dangerously around the CBD with occupants throwing “objects” at police officers, NT Police said.

NT Government crime marketing manager Sita Bacher said in a statement police were looking for witnesses to the ram raids.

She said a stolen ute was used to smash into a business on Kidman St, Ciccone about 2.30am, with the same vehicle used again to ram raid a business on Stuart Terrace, The Gap, about 3am, where a further vehicle was stolen.

Soon after the vehicles were seen driving dangerously in the CBD, with the offenders throwing multiple objects from the vehicle towards police, Ms Bacher said.

Police did not say detail the damage to the businesses, or say if anything else was stolen, or what was thrown at officers. Nor did they say how many alleged offenders they believed there were.

Strike Force Viper are investigating and police are asking anyone with information to call them on 131 444, or to report anonymously through Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
