Nuclear is not a viable option for Australia

The federal government’s preliminary cost estimates for small modular reactors highlight one of the many reasons why this nuclear technology – which is not being commercially deployed anywhere in the world – is not a viable option for Australia, Mirage News reported. Australian Conservation Foundation nuclear policy analyst Dave Sweeney said the nuclear option would dramatically increase household electricity bills, slow the transition to clean energy, introduce the possibility of catastrophic accidents and create multi-generational risks associated with the management of high-level nuclear waste.

Australian LNG plant is back to full production—Chevron

A Chevron Corp. liquefied natural gas plant in Australia had resumed full production after a fault cut output by one-fifth for three days amid strike action, the U.S. energy giant said. Earlier, a turbine tripped at the Wheatstone LNG plant in Western Australia state on Thursday last week as around 500 unionized Chevron staff escalated strike action over pay and conditions, Zeebiz.com has reported.
