Wagiman traditional owners have launched a Federal Court challenge against federal Environment Minister Murray Watt’s decision not to require an environmental assessment of Top End Pastoral Company’s plan to clear land on Claravale Station, court records show.
Traditional owners Veronica Huddleston, Mona Liddy and Patricia Noakes filed the originating application for a judicial view on July 9, challenging Mr Watt’s February decision not to assess the proposal to clear 2,722ha of savanna at the 61,380ha Claravale Station and adjoining 6,310ha Claravale Farm.
