Three people have been killed in a single vehicle rollover in Central Australia Thursday night, while one survivor has been hospitalised, NT Police have said.

Police said in a statement, the crash happened on the Lasseter Highway, 80km west of the Stuart Highway, around11:20pm last night, two men and one woman were found dead at the scene.

Another woman was also found and was taken to the Alice Springs Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, police said.

“It appears that the vehicle was traveling in an easterly direction and has left the road, rolling a number of times,” NT Police watch commander Senior Sergeant Sonia Kennon told the ABC Radio Darwin, Friday morning.

Major Crash Investigation Unit detectives were on the scene on Thursday and police will prepare a report for the Coroner, Snr Sgt Kennon said.

Meanwhile, another road accident occurred along Stuart Highway 15km south of Emerald Springs Thursday night where a truck collided with a bus, she said.

Police said the crash, with injured both drivers, happened about 9:40pm.

“It appears the truck veered onto the wrong side of the road, colliding with the bus, causing the truck to leave the road crashing into trees,” Snr Sgt Kennon said.

“All parties were able to remove themselves in their vehicles.”

She said the 26-year-old female driver of the bus broke her arm, and the 45-year-old male truck driver had serious leg injuries.

There were no passengers on the bus, she added.

Pine Creek medical staff gave first aid to both drivers before they were taken to the Katherine Hospital.

Snr Sgt Kennon said they were continuing to investigate.
