A possible kegger in Palmerston may have been thwarted by NT Police after a man and two women were arrested for allegedly stealing a 50-litre keg of beer from a Palmerston establishment and carting it away in a wheelie bin, NT Police said.

Police say the alleged offenders broke into the commercial business around 1:30 am on Wednesday and made off with the keg and the wheelie bin.

A 39-year-old man and 44-year-old woman have been charged with unlawful entry, damage to property and stealing. The other 47-year-old woman was issued with a notice to appear, but it’s unclear what charges she faces.

Police media manager Rob Cross did not reveal any details of how police nabbed the trio. It remains unclear if they had consumed the beer before being arrested. It was also not divulged whether they had a tap in their possession.

The man and woman facing the listed charges were placed in custody at some point and will appear in Darwin local court today, police said.
