An independent MLA has questioned why the acting Independent Commissioner Against Corruption Naomi Louden herself selected the person to take over the Operator Jupiter investigation into Labor government’s staffer’s misuse of public resources, following her disclosure of a conflict of interest in the matter, when the ICAC legislation has a provision for the NT administrator to independently appoint someone instead.
In a statement to the NT Independent late last Tuesday afternoon Ms Loudon said she had appointed a former Supreme Court judge from another jurisdiction to take over Operation Jupiter because of ICAC Michael Riches’ continued absence from his role.
I fully agree with Robyn Lambley’s suggestion that ICAC be outsourced interstate.
