A 15-year-old boy is facing 30 charges after allegedly repeatedly breaking into a government building across three days with a group of unknown co-offenders, damaging it, and stealing credit cards that they used across Palmerston, NT Police said.

Detective Acting Senior Sergeant Christopher Humphries said in a statement that police alleged that about 8pm on March 15, the 15-year-old, with other unknown offenders, broke into a government building on Palmerston Circuit, Palmerston, and damaged it before leaving.

He alleged that over the course of the next two days, a Saturday and a Sunday, the offenders returned to the same building, where they stole cash and credit cards, and further damaged the building.

Over those two days they allegedly used the stolen credit cards multiple times across Palmerston.

Snr Sgt Humphries said that on Monday, March 25, Strike Force Trident detectives arrested the boy, and charged him with eight counts of aggravated burglary, one count of attempted aggravated burglary, 11 counts of damage to property, six counts of theft, three counts of obtaining benefit by deception, and one count of a serious breach of bail.

He was remanded to appear in court on Tuesday.

Snr Sgt Humphries said that last week detectives arrested a 12-year-old who was an alleged co-offender in some of the crimes, and have identified additional alleged offenders with further arrests and charges expected.

Police are asking anyone with any information on the crimes to call them on 131 444 (quote reference 2400027419).
