A 16-year-old male has been released from custody with no charges after he was arrested early Sunday morning in connection to an incident involving a male allegedly entering an Alice Springs home and attempting to indecently assault a female inside, NT Police said.
Police media director Mark Wilton said police received a report of a male entering the residence on Erumba Street in Braitling around 6am Sunday, where it is alleged the male attempted to indecently assault “a young woman”.
The male left the residence after being confronted by another resident and fled on foot, police said.
Police attended the scene and arrested the 16-year-old male “a short time later”.
However, the teen was later released from custody with no charges, “pending further investigations”. Police did not provide details about why they released the boy.
“Police are urging anyone with information that could assist with investigations to make contact on 131 444 and quote reference number P26025563,” Mr Wilton said.
“Anonymous reports can be made through Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or via https://crimestoppersnt.com.au/.”
