Police and fire crews in Katherine were called to a vehicle fully engulfed in flames in a quiet street in Katherine East on Thursday afternoon, NT Police said.

Officials are calling for anyone with information on the suspicious fire to come forward with information.

Emergency services were called to the vehicle fire shortly before 1pm on Wednesday on Fordham Court, which was also causing heat damage to a nearby vehicle.

Fire crews extinguished the flames but the car was destroyed, a statement said.

“Police believe this is an isolated incident and we are calling for any witnesses to come forward,” said Detective Senior Sergeant Paul Lawson.
