Two men were apprehended by NT Police after breaking into a Rosebery home Saturday morning and stealing two vehicles before leading police on a pursuit to Berry Springs.
Police reported that the two suspects illegally entered a house on Lancewood Street and stole two vehicles early Saturday morning.
One of the cars was later recovered during the pursuit, but police suspect a twin-cab Toyota Hilux has been sent to Wadeye.
After receiving a report of the stolen vehicles by the homeowner, police deployed officers and a Dog Operations Unit (DOU) in the area after sighting one of the stolen vehicles. A pursuit from Palmerston to Berry Springs ended after police deployed a tyre deflation device on Cox Peninsula Road, enabling police to recover one stolen Toyota Hilux.
A 16-year-old male surrendered without incident at the scene, while the second suspect, a 21-year-old male, was apprehended after being located by patrol dog Daly.
The suspects were brought to Palmerston Watch House and were initially charged with property offences on the same day.
“Police believe the second vehicle, a twin cab Toyota Hilux, is travelling to Wadeye and anyone who has dash-cam footage or information on the whereabouts of the vehicle is urged to contact police on 131 444. Please quote reference number 10239120,” Watch Commander Nathan Finn said.
