Police Commissioner Michael Murphy has had to ask South Australia to send police to Alice Springs because some kids from the APY lands who were “not aware of the curfew” were in town, the Police Minister has claimed amid differing reasons for the reinforcements, but said it had nothing to do with the riots in the streets last week which led to an “emergency situation” declared and youth curfew.
ABC Radio Darwin began reporting at 6am Friday that South Australian police would be coming to Alice Springs, despite both the Police Commissioner Michael Murphy and Chief Minister Eva Lawler last week rejecting calls from Alice Mayor Matt Paterson to bring in the Australian Federal Police or police from other jurisdictions, following rolling violence in the town last Tuesday afternoon and night that saw a pub smashed and more than 150 people roaming the streets with weapons.
Excellent news. The more Police the merrier. I hope other states will contribute.
The left hand has no idea of what the right hand is doing and overall the chiefs have few ideas at all.
What a disaster and absolute disgrace.
Nothing like pretending that everything is going well.
Two weeks phhh! A month from now Alice will be teetering on anarchy yet again. Tourist numbers at a record low, small business going broke and will not survive another year. 270 plus properties for sale and climbing as long timers exit in record numbers. Meanwhile astute insider property investors sniff out the cream to add to their ever-expanding portfolios. Follow the money as THE ARROGANCE AND GREED will be exposed eventually. The truth can only be hidden while those in power ARE ABLE TO SUPRESS IT.
l thought we couldn’t do worse than a shelf packer running the show, but after 2 school teachers l have changed my mind.
