Five youths and an 18-year-old fled from different facilities in Alice Springs on Wednesday night, after removing their electronic monitoring devices, the NT Police said, with all still on the run, except for one 17-year-old who was arrested this morning.
Police said in a statement on Thursday afternoon they received reports around 11:30pm Wednesday night that four males aged 14, 15, 17, and 17, had escaped from a “supported accommodation” facility in Braitling after removing their electronic monitoring devices.
An 18-year-old male who was in a different “supported accommodation” facility also removed his monitoring device and left the facility, police said.
Another 16-year-old male also breached his conditions, removing his monitoring device in Braitling, police said.
“One of the 17-year-old males was located and arrested by Strike Force Viper members this morning,” police said in a statement.
“None of the absconders were in police custody and investigations are ongoing to locate them.”
Descriptions of the absconders were not provided.
Police are asking anyone with “information about their whereabouts” to contact police on 131 444.
