Senior facing charges for allegedly stabbing man

A 60-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly stabbing a 32-year-old man multiple times in Tennant Creek that has left him hospitalised, NT Police said.

Police and paramedics responded to a report of a serious assault in Kargaru Camp around 10:30pm on Monday where a man reportedly sustained multiple stab wounds to the abdomen following an attack.

Paramedics rushed the man to the Tennant Creek Hospital but he was later medivaced to the Alice Springs Hospital.

Authorities said he remains in a stable condition.

The 60-year-old male offender, who is known to the victim, has been arrested by members of the Tennant Creek Investigation Unit on Tuesday morning.

Police did not detail the motive of the assault. They also did not mention if they have recovered the weapon used to stab the victim.

NT Police said he was expected to be charged today.
