Former NT Police and Australian Federal Police commissioner Reece Kershaw has been appointed the interim chief executive officer of the troubled St John Ambulance NT organisation until the recruitment process for the role is finished, the organisation said.

Board chair Peter Carew sent an internal memo on Thursday stating that because CEO Andrew Tombs was finishing up on Friday, he thought it was timely to provide staff an update on the succession plan.
