Porsche Paynter Dixon Carrera Cup Heads to Darwin

The Porche Paynter Dixon Carrera Cup will be a new supporting category for the Supercars Championship and will be a part of Darwin Triple Crown event in 2022.

 Porsche Cars Australia’s sales and motorsport director Toni Andreevski said both pro-am drivers like Craig Lowndes, Dale Wood, David Russel and Luke Youlden, and up-and-coming junior drivers will be driving.

Fans will also get their first look at the Type 992 generation Porsche 911 GT3 Cup car, which will be featured in the support category, he said.

“Every season we strive to deliver a premium class experience for all our customers, teams and partners and the with the prospect of 32 new 992 generation Porsche 911 GT3 Cup cars filling the grid in 2022, the season will be arguably the best in its long and illustrious history,” Porsche Cars Australia’s Director Sales and Motorsport Toni Andreevski said. 

Motorsport Australia said the category will be elevated to championship status from 2022, joining the likes of the Australian GT and the VHT S5000 Australian Drivers’ Championship as a circuit racing championship under Motorship Australia.

The Darwin Triple Crown will be run in Darwin on June 17 to 19.
