The NT Police Association has said an extra 200 officers recruited over fours years is a good first step to improving policing, while some officers on sick leave had been “damaged” by the lack of resources provided by the government and executive and would never be coming back to work, which has also led to a need for more officers.

Association president Nathan Finn, who provided his response on Wednesday to the long-awaited review into police resources conducted by former NTPA president Vince Kelly, also said the Northern Territory needed interstate police to help deal with the current shortage of local officers in Alice Springs.
