This is a big deal.
Any government that misuses or ignores legislation is a dangerous government.
There is a very good reason why riots and civil unrest are not covered by the Emergency Act and its because riots and civil unrest are dealt with in the Crimes Act.
This inept and stupid government has set a precedence that must be challenged or we may see the Emergency Act being used by NT governments to stop political rallies and protest action against them.

Unblock ears and keep foot in mouth until you have taken proper advice on solutions
Then take action
You are supposed to learn from mistakes not create a bigger one to make the last one look smaller and take the punters mind off of it
When will the gross incompetence end.
You could start by taking responsibility for your actions and not throwing the closest person to you under the bus whenever something of your making goes wrong
When a person forces another person into a car and takes them somewhere against their will, that person is guilty of kidnapping. Without the proper legal authority to support them, our Police are being coerced into committing this crime by an incompetent Chief Minister, and it is our hard working coppers who will be thrown under the political bus as soon as it is convenient for this incompetent labor government to do so.
There is a limit on how much flagrant disregard for our laws our well-intentioned coppers and an exasperated public will allow to slide by. And while the incompetent Chief Minister and racist Police Minister pat each other on the back for mis-applying another band-aid, our communities spiral further into lawlessness, where everyone will have the same excuse for doing as they please – they are just trying to survive.
This is not a new idea it was brought up in a variety of discussions when the trouble first increased. Had the Government thought to canvas this option then, plenty of time could have been invested in the legalities of this and, if necessary, introduce legislation making it legal. Just another lazy day at the office.
