NT Police are searching for the driver of a blue Toyota Hilux that was “nearly sideswiped” by an erratic driver last year because they believe he can now “assist in an ongoing investigation into a domestic violence incident”.

In a strange request, NT Police are asking the driver to contact them.

Media manager Rob Cross said in a statement that police are still investigating the apparent road rage incident that occurred “during the early hours” of October 31, 2020, that saw a white Toyota Rav 4 driving erratically on Tiger Brennan Drive, nearly sideswiping the blue Hilux utility vehicle on the inbound lane.

Mr Cross said both vehicles pulled over at the Hidden Valley turnoff and “the drivers engaged in an altercation”.

It is unclear if that “altercation” is related to the domestic violence incident.

“Police would like to speak with the driver of the Toyota Hilux, as it is believed the driver can assist with an ongoing investigation into a domestic violence incident,” Mr Cross said in the statement.

“Additionally, anyone who may have witnessed the incident or has dash-cam footage is urged to contact police on 131 444 or via Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000. Please quote reference number 9496999.

“Police would like to reassure the community there is no risk to their safety in relation to this matter and assistance from the community is required and appreciated.”
