Police were called about the man just after 4:30pm on Wednesday afternoon after he collapsed on the trail between Standley Chasm and Simpsons Gap.

Friends of the man reportedly conducted CPR for some time before another group of hikers arrived with a satellite phone that they used to call for help, police said.
