A Jabiru woman was hospitalised after a 19-year-old man assaulted her and another woman during an attempted theft in a caravan park early Thursday morning, NT Police said.

Authorities said around 2am, three males were seen suspiciously entering a caravan park on Jabiru Drive.

Two of them allegedly left a short time later, police said.

The 19-year-old offender allegedly entered a caravan and assaulted a 30-year-old female.

Injuries sustained by the female from the assault were not disclosed by police. The teenager ran from the scene after the assault.

Police allege the man then assaulted another female in a nearby area. The 59-year-old victim was rushed to the Royal Darwin Hospital following the assault.

The condition of the woman was not also not disclosed by police.

NT Police said they arrested the offender in the vicinity a short time after the incident.

The Katherine Criminal Investigation Branch is handling the case and has interviewed the alleged offender, police said.

The teenager is expected to be charged today.

“This incident is still under investigation, and we have received multiple reports of thefts from residents in the caravan park,” Detective Senior Sergeant Paul Lawson said.

“We are asking anyone who saw a white Ford sedan or any suspicious activity in the area to come forward”.

Police are urging anyone with information on the incident to contact them at 131 444 or make an anonymous report through Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or crimestoppersnt.com.au.
