UPDATED: A prisoner who escaped from the Barkly Work Camp and was believed to be headed to Alice Springs has been caught in Tennant Creek, NT Police said.
Earlier today, NT Police director of communications Mark Wilton said police were told about 5.20pm Sunday that 28-year-old Jaiden Miller had escaped the prison camp, was believed to have removed his electronic monitoring device and may have been travelling towards Alice Springs.
“He was last seen wearing a yellow shirt and blue shorts,” Mr Wilton said.
“Police are actively searching for him, and he is urged to return himself into custody as soon as possible.
“The public should not approach him if sighted and should contact police immediately.”
In a statement this afternoon, Mr Wilton said police arrested him at a home on Limonite Street in Tennant Creek about 11.45am.
He said Miller remained in custody and police expected to charge him.
