NT Police Commissioner Michael Murphy was made aware of racist awards handed out within the Territory Response Group at least six months before they were aired publicly, a coronial inquest has heard, contradicting Mr Murphy’s claims in February that he was “not aware of the TRG awards”.
It appears Mr Murphy took no action after becoming aware of the awards last August and denied any knowledge of them in February, when former constable Zach Rolfe first disclosed the TRG’s “coon of the year awards” at the inquest into the death of Kumanjayi Walker.
Seems the Police decision, against all independent advice, to persecute Zack has really come around to bite them on the bum !!
What are the chances of having 2 dishonest police commissioners appointed in a row?… very high apparently.
Thought it was three? did one not serve time?
Chalker promoted nearly everyone that sided with him in the case against Rolfe. Everyone that spoke up got sidelined or sacked. It is no surprise that Murphy has been caught out.
Murphy is toast, and like most of his lackeys Corrupt .
Sack the lot and start again
There will be consequences for Police Commissioner Chalker but there has been none for the Police Minister Potter who posted offensive, sexist, misogynistic, homophobic and anti-sematic social media posts. Police Minister Potter idolised and quoted German Generals who said ‘if you have nothing to do, kill someone’. Potter must go before Labor takes any action against Chalker.
It is both convenient and ironic that the racist Minister for Police has been able to deflect his sins to those he is charged with leading.
