Police cars pelted with rocks from multiple stolen cars

NT Police are seeking the public’s help identifying people involved in an overnight crime spree in Alice Springs that saw multiple stolen vehicles used to swerve at police cars and later smash them with rocks, with some of the vehicles and people involved still at large.

Police said a grey Toyota Landcruiser Prado was observed swerving to hit a police vehicle on Railway Terrace around 12:30am, before its occupants started throwing rocks at another police vehicle at a service centre on the Stuart Highway, causing the driver’s window to be smashed.

Police said no members were in the vehicle at the time and nobody suffered injuries.

The Prado was then seen travelling with a white MG that was reported stolen from a residence in the Gap around 12:50am. Those vehicles were joined by a stolen Subaru XV that was reportedly stolen earlier Tuesday from a Gillen residence.

At 1am, the occupants of the Prado allegedly threw rocks at another police vehicle on the Ross Highway, shattering the rear window but the officers inside were not injured.

The white MG was later recovered abandoned on Lovegrove Drive around 1:10am, police said, and the Subaru was found abandoned on Bloomfield Street.

“The Prado has subsequently been confirmed as stolen and remains outstanding along with the unknown offenders,” police media director Mark Wilton said in a statement.

“Strike Force Viper are investigating and urge anyone with information, including with CCTV or dashcam footage, to make contact on 131 444. You can also make an anonymous report through Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or through https://crimestoppersnt.com.au/.”

  1. Perhaps they should change the name of strike force Viper to strike force No Result, it appears that they couldn’t catch a cold.

    • Often a WASTE OF TIME if they DO catch them as they will be slapped with a WET LETTUCE or (if under age) taken back to their “RESPONSIBLE ADULT”
      🦄🤡🙄😤🤬
