Detectives investigating the death of a man who was struck by a vehicle on the inbound lane of the Stuart Highway at Pinelands on Friday, February 27, have appealed to the public for witnesses or dashcam footage of the incident.
The strike occurred around 10:20pm on Friday, February 27, with police stating at the time that the driver stopped and remained at the scene after allegedly striking the man who suffered critical injuries and died near Foundation Road.
The driver tested negative for drugs and alcohol, police said last week.
But on Wednesday, police called for anyone with information about the incident to come forward and contact them.
It was unclear if police understand someone may have seen the incident.
“Major Crash detectives are appealing for witnesses who may have been in the area or anyone with dashcam, especially those who may have witnessed any pedestrians between Foundation Road and McMillans Road between the times of 10:00pm and 10:20pm, to make contact on 131 444. Please quote reference number NTP2600020410,” police said in a statement.
“Anonymous reports can be made through Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or via https://crimestoppersnt.com.au/.”
Police said last Saturday they were in the process of preparing a report for the Coroner.
The death marked the fourth on Territory roads this year.
