Four men who allegedly beat a man aboard a Darwin bus yesterday evening are being sought by police.

The 40-year-old male victim sustained facial injuries and was taken to the hospital following the beating.

Northern Territory Police said four men boarded the bus at about 6:45pm at the Casuarina Bus Interchange while the victim boarded the same bus a short time later.

At about 7:10pm, the bus stopped on Trower Road between Sabine Road and Francis Street. One of the four men allegedly demanded the victim’s watch before punching him in the face multiple times, police said.

It’s unclear if the men were successful in snatching the victim’s watch. The watch’s value was also not disclosed.

The four men exited the bus and walked off towards Progress Drive.

“All four men were wearing dark clothing; one man was described as being of Aboriginal appearance, 175cm tall and was wearing a black shirt with large white lettering on the back,” said police media spokeswoman Chantal Deutrom.

St John Ambulance treated the victim for facial injuries and transported him to Royal Darwin Hospital.

NT Police are now calling for witnesses with information about the identity of the four men.

Police urge witnesses to contact them on 131 444 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000, quoting reference number 9320463.
