Police are investigating what they say is the suspicious death of a woman in Coconut Grove on Friday night.

Major Crime officer in charge, Detective Senior Sergeant Paul Morrissey said in a statement the woman’s death was reported just before 8pm and a crime scene was established at the apartment in which her body was found, in a complex on Progress Drive.

“At this stage we are treating this death as suspicious, and we would like to speak to anyone who may be able to help us piece together events leading to this incident,” he said.

Snr Sgt Morrissey gave no indication how the 48-year-old Aboriginal woman died but said she was living in the apartment complex and had a full-leg cast on her left leg.”

Police have conducted door-knocks in the area, he said, but they are looking for anyone who was in the area of the Nightcliff shops, Progress Drive and Litchfield Court between 7pm and 8pm.

If you have information you can phone to police on 131 444.
