Pig slaughter in rural area under investigation by police

NT Police are investigating after more than a dozen domestic pigs were slaughtered and left on a property near Dundee Downs.

Police said they were called to the property on Fogg Bay Road on March 20 by the resident who reported that 15 domestic pigs had been shot dead and left on the property.

But while investigations were ongoing into the matter, the resident called police earlier this week to report that more pigs had been shot, however, the person claimed the carcasses were not left on the property in the second instance.

It was unclear how the resident knew the pigs involved in the second incident were shot.

“We are calling for anyone with information, CCTV, dash-cam or trail-cam footage, or if you noticed a vehicle carrying pig carcasses in the area of Fog Bay Road between Sand Palms and Dundee Beach on March 26-27, or to the earlier incident, to please contact police,” said Detective Senior Sergeant Brett Cottier.

Police are asking anyone with information to contact Police on 131 444 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000, quoting reference 9955487.
