A 25-year-old Palmerston man has been arrested and charged after a raid of his home yesterday uncovered child abuse and animal sexual abuse material, NT Police said.
Detectives from the Joint Anti-Child Exploitation Team (JACET) executed a search warrant on the man’s Bellamack home around 6:35am on Wednesday, after receiving information for the United States National Centre for Missing and Exploited Children.
The man, who has not been named, was arrested at the home and remanded to appear in Darwin Local Court today.
He is facing five counts of accessing child abuse material, four counts of transmitting child abuse material, two counts of possessing or controlling child abuse material and a further two counts of distributing animal sexual abuse and animal crush material.
“Accessing, possessing, or distributing child abuse material is a horrific crime that will not be tolerated,” Detective Acting Senior Sergeant Sarah Firth said in a statement.
“The Northern Territory Police remain committed to protecting the most vulnerable members of our community, and we will continue to work tirelessly to hold offenders accountable for this abhorrent behaviour.”
