Chief Minister Eva Lawler appeared to have contradicted herself about the demolition of the current Don Dale youth detention centre, now floating the idea that the facility once described as “only fit for a bulldozer” could be used to hold adult prisoners again, once the current young offenders are moved to the new purpose-built youth centre at Holtze.
Ms Lawler said on Wednesday that she was always referring to the old Don Dale youth facility when saying it would be demolished, which happens to sit near the current Don Dale centre, which is the old adult Berrimah jail.
Out of ideas and out of time!
So Don Dale is not fit for children but is ok for NT Women.
