Police officers ended an estimated 40-second pursuit of a suspicious ute in Darwin city last week for “safety reasons” four to five seconds before it ran through a red light and hit a taxi, injuring passengers in the car, NT Police said.
A statement from police director of communications Mark Wilton last Friday indicated that the ute driven by youths was being chased by police along Cavanagh Street in Darwin, but was ended for safety reasons “shortly” before it crashed into a taxi after running the red light.
