Some Northern Territory taxi fares will increase by seven per cent from Monday, the NT government has said.
Infrastructure, Planning and Logistics Department acting chief executive Louise McCormick said in a statement the increase in maximum fares came after the annual fare review, with rates increasing for tariffs one and two, which covers daytime, night and weekend travel.
But Ms McCormick said, flag fall and tariffs three and four, which apply when there are five or more passengers, would not change.

“This increase has been carefully evaluated to safeguard the needs of passengers while addressing the industry’s financial challenges,” she said.
Mr McCormick said the fare increase would help in attract new drivers, and motivate both drivers and operators to deliver high-quality service to passengers.
In mid-May Nine News reported Uber had increased its prices by 3.6 per cent across the country.
