The Territory’s hospitals will get a one-off cash injection of $51 million this year as part of the Albanese Labor Government’s national funding boost, which the government said was done to strengthen Medicare and support public hospitals.
The funding increase, that comes ahead of the federal election, is part of a “new agreement” between the Federal and NT Governments that will see the Commonwealth’s funding for public hospitals in the Territory increase by 30 per cent, the Federal Government said, bringing the total funding to $560 million for the 2025-26 fiscal year, following the $51 million boost in 2024-25.
