NT Health has issued a warning to Territorians about the use of nitazenes, a dangerous synthetic opioid recently found in the Territory, which is potentially up to 10 times more potent than fentanyl.

The agency said it takes as little as two milligrams of the substance to be deadly, but did not disclose specific locations where the substance was found, as a police investigation is underway. The warning comes just weeks before the Territory’s Bassinthegrass music concert, scheduled for May 17.
