EXCLUSIVE: The Northern Territory’s director of building control Mark Meldrum failed in his duty to properly enforce the NT’s building laws, a new complaint obtained by the NT Independent has alleged, while never-before-seen documents appear to show Mr Meldrum ignored evidence of wrongdoing by the builder of a flawed Darwin CBD apartment complex and shut down an investigation he took two-and-a-half years to finalise before the facts could be reviewed by the regulatory body.
The complaint, filed with the NT Ombudsman and ICAC, also alleges that Mr Meldrum and the NT’s Building Advisory Services unit engaged in “incompetence, corruption or both” through the failure to properly investigate all allegations about the Kube Apartments complex in the Darwin CBD. It is further alleged Mr Meldrum failed to address multiple defects and non-compliance issues and also made multiple errors during his investigation.
And meanwhile the leaks and water ingress continue, ruining more apartments that we paid top dollar for back in the day!! Never again will I buy a build from this company.
