Website founder and NT businesswoman Amy Milford has again been named as a AusMumpreneur Awards 2024 finalist.
Ms Milford said she was a finalist in the online community category, and the people’s choice local community category, which follows her winning bronze in 2022 and 2023 in the people’s choice making a difference in the local community category.
The businesswoman launched Darwin Family Life in 2017, which has grown from a website to also have social media sites and a newsletter, and Ms Milford said it has become the go-to place for families moving to Darwin, providing them with information and insight about living in Darwin.
The AusMumpreneur Awards, run by the Women’s Business School, recognise successful Australian mums in business in areas such as product development, customer service, and digital innovation.
“There are many benefits to balancing business and motherhood. I created a platform that would feed into my love of community and kids, expose local businesses to thousands of families, derive income from paid listings and promotions, create resources and information for people, and connect new and existing families in Darwin,” Ms Milford said.
Ms Milford, who grew up in the NT and is a mother to four kids, said she wanted to create something to balance work, with raising her young family as a solo parent, because it was challenging being a successful businesswoman while raising a family.
“Dream big. Never let other people’s fears get to you. If you are thinking of starting a business, give it a go. You don’t want to look back in five to 10 years and think, ‘What if…’,” she said.
The winners of the AusMumpreneur Awards will be announced at a gala dinner on August 16 in Melbourne.
