A Malak man found in possession of a collection of child abuse materials has been arrested and charged, NT Police said.

Authorities from the Australian Federal Police Joint Anti Child Exploitation Team (JACET) and the NT Police executed a warrant at the man’s residence in Malak and found evidence of child abuse materials in the man’s possession.

He is set to appear at the Darwin Local Court today to face charges of possession or control child abuse material.

“This offending is not tolerated, and police will continue to work across the jurisdictions to keep children safe, apprehend offenders and hold them to account,” Detective Sergeant Vanessa Barton said.

Sgt Barton urged anyone who may have any information about people involved in child abuse and exploitation to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or www.crimestoppersnt.com.au

A report can also be made online alerting the Australian Centre to Counter Child Exploitation via the ‘Report Abuse’ button at www.accce.gov.au/report
