Land rights advocate and nine-term NT Land Council board member, including four as its chair, and the NT’s Australian of the Year, Dr Bush-Blanasi died on Sunday at 61.
Dr Bush-Blanasi, a strong advocate for the recently rejected Voice to Parliament referendum, passed away on Sunday at Royal Darwin Hospital after a brief illness, the land council said. He was among the first people to support a Yes vote in the referendum stating that Australia had a “history of ignoring Aboriginal people”.
