NT Police are calling for the public’s help to identify a group of nine youths who allegedly threatened an employee of a Katherine service station with a knife before stealing cash and cigarettes.

Police said the incident occurred around 12:50am at a service station on Katherine Terrace.

The nine youths allegedly started stealing items from the shop before pulling an “edged weapon” on the employee.

They then made off with cash and cigarettes.

Strike Force Cerberus officers are currently investigating “with a number of offenders identified through CCTV”, police said.

“Detectives are urging anyone with information to make contact on 131 444 and quote reference P24227820,” a statement said.

“You can also make an anonymous report through Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or through https://crimestoppersnt.com.au/.”

  1. I pity anyone working in a service station in Katherine. Low staff numbers leave staff in danger every night as groups of free range ferals roam the streets unchallenged.

  2. Don’t have enough police to patrol the streets at night, yet they can find 5 officers to go to an anti fracking demo outside Wordens office at a moments notice.
