News Brief: Image of proposed developments will now be on signs

by | Feb 7, 2022 | News Brief | 0 comments

Proposed developments and rezoning applications will now be required to include the site plan and a rendered image of the project proposal at the proposed site, the NT Government has announced.

Beginning January 21, 2022, new signage will be implemented in the Darwin, Palmerston, Litchfield and Alice Springs areas for all planning applications requiring public exhibition.

The changes will include the proposed design or land use image associated with the proposal on a sign at the site.

A QR code that links directly to the planning notices website and the application number issued by the Development Assessment Services will also be required to be visible.

Additionally, the details of any proposed “key” variations, including building height, setbacks, car parking, residential density and/or minimum lot sizes are also required.

Applications will need to be lodged at least 10 days prior to the anticipated advertising date to allow for the printing of the signs, Development Assessment Services said in the announcement.

There is no increase in the cost of development applications with the roll out of the improved signage, the government said.
