News Brief: House prices up in the December quarter, closed higher for the year

Darwin residential properties price index had a rise of 1.5 per cent in the December quarter, a government report shows, with an annual increase of 13.0 per cent over the 2021 year.

Residential Property Price Index (RPPI) which monitors the changes to residential property prices for established houses, and dwellings (such as units and apartments).

The 1.5 per cent increase in Darwin is the smallest growth across all jurisdictions, with capital cities reporting a 15.7 percent increase in Perth to 29.8 per cent  increase in Hobart over the 2021 year.

Nationally, the combine capitals’ average RPPI increased by 23.7 per cent.

The median house price in Darwin from the 2021 year rose from $575,000 to $590,000.
