The NT Police’s ongoing New Zealand officer recruitment campaign has that country’s top cop asking why the NT couldn’t have given him a ‘heads up’ phone call before the latest drive, that saw nearly 40 Kiwi officers sign-up earlier this year, but he said many have stated they “lack the support from bosses” here in “pretty harsh” conditions and are looking to return home.
Radio New Zealand reported on Tuesday that the NT Police have renewed their already successful efforts to recruit more officers, this time hitting Auckland, Rotorua, Napier, Wellington and Christchurch over the next few weeks, following a recruitment drive earlier this year that saw nearly 40 officers poached, with the NT’s pay offer and perks so generous New Zealand police previously said they could not compete.
They are here for the money and rightly so.
