Australian Nursing and Midwifery Federation NT boss Heidi Crisp has been elected unopposed as the Unions NT president.

In a statement, the organisation said Ms Crisp was elected at the group’s annual general meeting on Monday, with outgoing president Cath Hatcher not renominating for the position.

Ms Crisp took over from Ms Hatcher as the ANMF NT branch secretary in December last year.

The statement said United Workers Union secretary Erina Early was re-elected as the Unions NT secretary.

The Unions NT website says it represents 14 affiliated unions and more than 15,000 members across the private and public sectors.

“Territory workers continue to face significant challenges, including cost-of-living pressures, workplace safety concerns and the need for secure jobs and fair wages,” Ms Crisp said.

“Unions NT will continue to work closely with our affiliated unions to advocate for better pay and conditions, stronger workplace health and safety protections, equality and social justice for all working Territorians.”

Ms Early said a 14.09 per cent increase in membership among Unions NT affiliates over the past year showed more workers in the Territory were joining unions because they understood that collective action leads to positive outcomes.
