A new show called The Party will be held in the Spiegeltent at Darwin Festival this year, the organisers have said.
Darwin Festival artistic director Kate Fell said the show created by Strut & Fret, would feature international circus artists, dazzling music, extravagant costumes, and energy within a theatre set unlike anything seen before in the Spiegeltent.
“Last year, the Spiegeltent’s Blanc de Blanc Encore show was a tremendous hit and the same talented people have created this new extravaganza, The Party,” Ms Fell said.
“We’re thrilled that audiences can again experience the extraordinary talents and outrageous performances of these artists – there really is nothing like it.”
Strut & Fret founder and director Scott Maidment said the show was internationally acclaimed, and brought together lavish sets, risqué humour and opulent costumes.
“The high octane dance numbers, and the incredible soundtrack with its mix of old school and recent party anthems, gets the audience up dancing at interval and at the end. It really does feel like an actual party as much as it does a show,” he said.
The Spiegeltent will be in situated on the Festival lawn, in front of Parliament House.
Tickets for the show are on sale now and the full program for the Darwin Festival – which runs from August 8 to 25 – will be announced on Wednesday, May 29.
