The Neighbourhood Watch NT Community Safety Expo will be held in Darwin next month, with organisers aiming to give residents a hands-on look at preventive safety, including practical tools, emergency kits and everyday safety practices.
Neighbourhood Watch NT chief executive officer Veronica Larson said the free, family-friendly event was focused on improving safety at home, online, and in the community.
“The expo brings together community members, government agencies, emergency services and safety providers in a unique environment where people can learn, ask questions and connect with the services available to them,” Ms Larson said.
“This event is about strengthening community connections and reaffirming our collective commitment to a safer, stronger and more resilient Northern Territory.”
Ms Larson said stallholders would provide information on home security, emergency preparedness, scams and personal safety, with items such as first aid kits and alarms available for purchase.
Attendees will also be able to book in-home safety assessments, sign up for newsletters and memberships, learn about water safety initiatives with Surf Life Saving Australia, and explore volunteering or career pathways with Northern Territory Police and other emergency services.
Workshops and demonstrations will cover personal safety, scam awareness and a voluntary platform designed to connect personal and business CCTV systems.
Ms Larson said the event would also feature children’s activities, entertainment, interactive displays, games and food trucks.
The expo will run from 9am to 3pm at Marrara Netball Stadium on Saturday, April 18. For more information visit the Neighbourhood Watch NT website.
