A 21-year-old man has been charged with murder after allegedly running over a man in Timber Creek on Monday night, amid a massive brawl in the community that also saw two other people stabbed and taken to hospital.
The mayhem occurred around 8:50pm Monday night, when police received reports that a large group of people were fighting along the Victoria Highway in Timber Creek, about 600km southwest of Darwin.
During the melee, a man started driving a vehicle dangerously through the area before striking and killing a 27-year-old male, police said.
Two others, including a 16-year-old boy and a 65-year-old woman, were reportedly stabbed during the incident.
“Investigations remain ongoing into the circumstances of the related stabbings during the incident,” police media director Mark Wilton said in a statement on Thursday.
“The two victims remain in hospital in a serious but stable condition.”
NT Police said the 21-year-old has been remanded and charged with murder and will face Katherine Local Court on Friday, November 7.
No other charges in connection to the disturbance have been laid.
