A 71-year-old motorcyclist, who was left in a critical condition two days after a collision on McMillans Road, has passed away at the Royal Darwin Hospital, authorities said.

The man was riding his white Yamaha Virago motorcycle around 8:30AM on Sunday when he collided with a silver Toyota Corolla at the intersection of Charles Eaton Dr and McMillans Rd in Eaton. Police said the man passed away in hospital Tuesday afternoon.

Police have yet to provide any details about what may have caused the collision.

Detective Senior Sergeant Brendan Lindner said they will continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash and asks motorists who were in the area during the incident to provide them with dash-cam or mobile footage.

“Major Crash detectives have spoken with a number of witnesses, and we thank them for coming forward,” Sgt Lindner said.

“We continue to appeal for any others who saw the crash occur, or who may have dash-cam footage, to contact police to assist with the investigation,” he said.

NT Police urges anyone with information who can assist with the investigation to contact them on 131444 and quote reference number 9784625.

The intersection near the airport, on the busy McMillans Rd, is known to be a problem spot for collisions.
