Four people are facing charges in connection to “multiple disturbances” at a car yard in Coconut Grove, including one allegedly involving a gun, which NT Police said resulted in the seizure of weapons, a trafficable quantity of meth and $800 in counterfeit cash.
The police’s dog unit officers attended the car yard on Friday, where they apprehended four adults, with Strike Force Trident and general duties officers also being called in.
Subsequent searches resulted in the police seizing a modified .22 calibre handgun, the undisclosed amount of meth, two ‘edged weapons’, several bats and $800 of counterfeit cash.
A stolen vehicle was also recovered at the scene, which police said was linked to a previous theft in Fannie Bay.
The four people facing charges appear to have been released, with notices to appear in court being issued by police.
“Two men, aged 28 and 38, have each been issued a Notice to Appear for possess schedule 1 drug in public place, due to appear in Darwin Local Court on 1 April 2026,” police said in a statement.
“A 34-year-old female will be issued a Notice to Appear for theft of a motor vehicle, due to appear in Darwin Local Court on 1 April 2026.
“A 33-year-old male will be issued a Notice to Appear for Possess firearm while unlicensed, Possess counterfeit currency and Possess controlled weapon in public space. He is also expected to appear in Darwin Local Court on 1 April 2026.”
