Three mayoral candidates say they would like to see the 21-storey hybrid civic centre-private office tower currently being built in partnership with developer DCOH stopped if elected, and also supported a review or an investigation of the decision-making process for the project, while none of the current councillors would provide their thoughts about the project on the record.
Council announced the new 21-storey hybrid civic centre last November, which it has since said will cost $157 million – including demolition of the existing civic centre and rehabilitation of the site – with the council to contribute $77 million and developer DCOH to spend $80 million.

Where or who . . . is the “authority” declaring accountability, transparency, identity, allegedly authorized by Darwin Council to inform territorians the Darwin Council ‘was pleased the action was ended’? I tell you what: If all or any unknown public servant mouth wants my attention then I sure as hell, want to know his or her authority to do so? Northern Territory governance across the board, at every level, has no longer any right what-so-ever to claim an authority without any evidence of that authority. Every level of decision-making in NT has either failed or is an active and aware individual unable to service territorians as required and expected? Where our futures?
