An off-duty NT Corrections officer who was returning home from a fundraiser for another officer who lost his eye last month in an attack at Holtze Prison, had his face slashed by an unknown offender late Saturday night after refusing demands for cigarettes and money, a union official has confirmed.

His current condition and how many stitches he required for the severe gash on his left cheek is unclear.
